Challenge: 30 days of Kindness

People often say that they all want a better world. A kinder world. A world without wars and hate and misery.

We can’t change everything at once, but we can make small changes to make the world around us better.

In order for the world to change, we have to change ourselves. We have to be the change that leads the flapping of a butterfly to cause a hurricane miles away.

Be kind to others. Pay it forward. And one day that kindness will come around to you when you needed it the most.

It is for this reason that I have conceived of a new “30-day challenge” starting on the 1st of December. Technically it will be 31 days.

The point of this challenge is to do at least 1 act of kindness a day, more if you like, for the entirety of the month of December.

What better way to start a New Year than with a bag full of good deeds to account for? And perhaps, even carry it on after December?

A simple act of kindness doesn’t necessarily mean spending money. It just means opening your soul to family, to friends and to strangers equally. It means generosity of spirit.

Examples of act of kindness are many and varied: stopping your busy day to help an old lady cross the road; it means babysitting your neighbor’s kids so they can take the toddler to hospital; mowing the lawn of an elderly person that cannot longer do it himself/herself; it means bringing a homeless person a hot meal and a cup of tea…

Small acts of kindness means practicing empathy. Rather than judging an individual for his or her looks or current situation; it’s about trying to understand what life steps did they take to end up there. It’s about helping regardless of previous mistakes.

We are not perfect, but we are all in this world together and none of us wants hate or wars.

It’s time to show the ruling powers that we can do without them. Because we are stronger united. Because we are compassionate and caring. And because we don’t hate each other the way they want us to.

Starting December the 1st, and every day of the month I will be doing random acts of kindness. No matter how big or small, I will be writing about them daily in here.

I encourage you all to follow my lead and be kind to one another. Join me in this 30 Days of Kindness Challenge.

If you wish to post on social media, I recommend the following hashtags: #30DaysofKindness, #KindChallenge, #KindnessChallenge, #LoveOverHate, #LoveTrumpsHates, #HateIsNotWelcome, #LovePeople, #LoveIsStrong, #KindnessChallenge, #30DaysOfLove, #30Kindness, etc… These are just some suggestions.
