Day 1: Kindness challenge

Today is day 1 of my 30 days of kindness. Technically is going to be 31, given how December has 31 days. We are not talking semantics here, so for aesthetic purposes, I am calling it #30DaysOfKindness.

As my first day of kindness, I decided to pay it forward (if only a little bit) to the person that means everything to me: my husband.

Husband woke up before I did this morning (seeing how I had very little sleep the last two nights) and started working on the electrics in the computer room. We have electricity in every room except for the computer room. He spent several hours rewiring everything and digging and putting new cables and, in short, doing all that cable stuff electricians know about. And now everything works!

Because he was so awesome, I decided to show my gratitude by cooking extra few lunches for him to take to work. He leaves tomorrow morning around 5am, and he will be gone for 10 days. Usually I make him some sandwiches, and pack some bits and pieces like canned food and things like ham and cheese that you buy over the counter. I packed him those, but I also went out of my way and did the following meals for him today:

A few hours later I ran him a nice bubble-bath. Not too hot, though, he doesn’t like it as hot as I do. After that, when he was driy, I took him to the bedroom and gave him a full body massage with baby oil. After all, he is going to be working hard for the next 10 days. For all you wondering, yes, there was a happy ending to it.

None of this cost me much. Just time. Time I am willing to give up to my husband, or for him, because he loves me and puts up with whatever mood I am in.

As per usual, I also prepared his suitcase and made sure he has fresh coffee ready in the coffee machine first thing in the morning.

For the rest of the month I have other acts of kindness planned.

And while this might not seem much to any of you, it makes a difference to him. And that is all that matter. Making a difference in people’s lives. No matter how small.

If you wish to post on social media, I recommend the following hashtags: #30DaysofKindness, #KindChallenge, #KindnessChallenge, #LoveOverHate, #LoveTrumpsHates, #HateIsNotWelcome, #LovePeople, #LoveIsStrong, #KindnessChallenge, #30DaysOfLove, #30Kindness, etc… These are just some suggestions. But I do hope you join me in this challenge.
