I hate very much the hypocrisy of holidays. People calling each other up, pretending to be happy and caring, everybody babbling but with really nothing to say.
Of course, I made the necessary calls to immediate family while ignoring everybody else. Neither husband nor I celebrate Christmas, so we have no particular joy or excitement about it other than we get to spend time together.
There was one call I had to make. My friend George. I spoke about him a few days ago and he is still down in the dumps, and spending this time alone. My call went to him. And my deed of kindness. For two hours we talked and talked and I cheered him up. The holidays means a lot more to him than it does to me, so he truly needed it.
It finally stopped raining, so I put new food outside for the cats and other creatures.
I also have a lot of leftover food. I’ll probably take it around in the morning to somebody who needs it.
Unfortunately there isn’t much more to be done today, as everywhere around is closed and people arer just spending time with their families. This is a very small town. Seriously, we don’t even have a cash machine.
I have one last phone call to make today.
Happy holidays to all you. Just remember to be kind all year around, not just during the holiday.
